The program at our October meeting was our traditional “Members Teaching Members,” and it was fun, inspiring, and informative, as always. Several presentations were given by members, and small groups moved from table to table, enjoying demonstrations of hexigons, folded stars, thread painting and machine embroidery, single fold bindings, a super quick table runner, ruler work with machine quilting, and paper piecing.

Many thanks to Barb and Les, our Program Committee, and to Linda F, Glenna, Marilyn, Maureen, Yoskyl, Les, and Kori for sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm and for all their planning and preparation for the meeting.
Paper Foundation Hexigons Yoskyl’s talk about paper foundation hexigons was accompanied by many samples and ideas for projects using these traditional blocks.

Folded Star Mat Linda F demonstrated how to make a folded star mat, revealing the secret of this pattern – the prairie point! Careful cutting, folding and alignment of the prairie points produces lovely results.

Thread Painting & Machine Embroidery Maureen showed us how to create fabric art with thread painting and machine embroidery, outlining and filling in areas with beautiful threads and a variety of materials.
Single Fold Bindings Les demonstrated how to finish the edges of quilt sandwiches with a single fold binding, very useful for creating a low-loft edge for mug rugs, place mats and table runners. Who wants their wine glass to topple off the edge of a mat?!

Ten-Minute Table Runner Glenna showed us how to make a simple, super quick runner to dress up a table.
