Staying Connected #29

Keeping in touch through our quilting …

From Linda R … I am working on some Halloween/Harvest Placemats for my Grands.

From Genevieve … This is my latest. I call it Roger’s Cars.

From Sharon … I picked these two fabrics up the day we had our Floral Collage Workshop and the instructor brought a small shop along.

So I finally got to them and will hang up the poppies for the month of November.

The sunflowers will have to wait for summer.

From Maureen … Sometimes you just have to go back.

This was my second quilt made from a jelly roll. It was easy to do. I did not and do not like the pattern because it makes me dizzy.

Since we all have our favorite TV chair, Ken uses this one to sit on….not to stay warm, mind you, but to sit higher in the chair!

And also from Maureen … I have always liked this quilt. It is a Charlie Harper pattern. It is dated Summer 2017, which is 2 years into my quilting journey. It took me 6 months to do.

It has some 3D wing pieces and leaves. I experimented with Razzle Dazzle thread, double needles on the bottom flower, Swarovski crystals, and a pattern that I could hardly read.

However, at the end of the day after tears, frustration, re-dos, seam ripping hours, more re-dos, the end result pleases me. It hangs in the Man Cave in my house. I may have the pattern if that is of interest to anyone.

I had to search far and wide to get the tiny button eyes, and the 1/4” ribbon.

From Linda F … Les and her friend Glenna have been busy finishing quilts again.

Here is a sample of the 5 quilts that have been donated to Community Quilts.

The brilliant colours looked lovely on my patio bench.

Many thanks to Linda R, Genevieve, Sharon, Maureen, and Linda F.

Time to say good-bye to all those cheery sunflowers blooming in gardens and neighbourhoods this summer of COVID. They’ll be back next year.
