Some of us gathered on Zoom today for a mid-summer visit. Quilting, chatting, cleaning up the sewing room – it was all part of the event.
One member had recently attended the big annual quilt show in Sisters, Oregon. It was so interesting to hear all about it. A highlight was seeing well-known quilter, Freddie Moran, still creating wonderful pieces in her 90s.
Another member is very proud of her granddaughter, whose artwork is credited in a new movie just out – Thor: Love and Thunder.
A couple of members have new sewing machines they are excited about. They will be pouring over manuals in the coming weeks. We all agreed that the sewing machines of today are just a tad more complicated than the featherweights our mothers used.
One member mentioned she had tried making lettuce soup with some of the big crop in her garden, and it was quite tasty. Another member said that kale is a good addition to lettuce soup. Adventures in cooking!
We talked about a pattern for a lovely bird house block that we were given and the best way to make it. Who will take up this challenge?! We’ll see.
There will be another Summer SOSAH Day in August. All are welcome.
Many thanks to Barb M and Marilyn C for organizing this activity.
